Walthall County Civil Docket Searches
PAMEC is the main online route for participating Walthall Circuit and Fourth Chancery electronic cases. It works as a statewide public-access layer for Mississippi Electronic Courts. It is not a free anonymous search. Pick the court context with care. A Circuit civil action, a Chancery estate, and a Justice Court small claim each start in a different local record channel. If you have a case number, use it. Otherwise, bring the party or caption, the filing year, and the court type to the search. The unauthenticated PAMEC pages do not show the live case-search fields, wildcard behavior, or date filters. So confirm the actual labels after registration. Then read the resulting docket and notice dates directly rather than guessing from an abbreviated result.
- Identify whether the matter belongs in Circuit, Fourth Chancery, Justice, or Tylertown Municipal Court.
- Register for PAMEC when an electronic Circuit or Chancery search is appropriate.
- Select the matching court context and search by the available case number or party or caption details.
- Open the docket sheet and compare the newest setting, order, and status entry.
- Use the maintaining clerk's counter, phone line, or written request for older files, a no-result search, or a certified copy.
Walthall Civil Dockets and PAMEC Registration
A public, non-attorney PAMEC registration costs $10 per year. The sign-up sequence asks for personal information, organization information, security questions, a captcha, and a payment choice. Under the PAMEC terms, the public account is read-only. Every returned search page is billed at $0.20 per page. Even a no-match result counts. Once you submit, the payment method cannot be changed. PAMEC's personal-information form shows the public-account fields you fill out before access opens.
The organization step offers an individual option, and no organization name is required. The account setup itself will not tell you which Walthall court holds a case, so settle that from the case paperwork before paying for search results. PAMEC's organization-information form shows the address, telephone, and organization fields that come after the personal step.
Charges follow pages returned. Narrow every search with a court and case number when you can. The terms also bar automated collection or repeated broad searches as a workaround for page charges. For Walthall Circuit and Walthall Chancery cases, an account is the only online route. But a Walthall clerk counter, a public terminal, and a clerk phone inquiry all remain practical. So does a focused written request. Turn to them when the online Walthall result is missing or incomplete.
Civil Dockets: What They Show
A Walthall civil docket is a chronological case register, not a story of the dispute. The header may carry the case number, court, filing date, case style, judge, and status. From there, the register tracks service, responses, motions, notices, and settings. It also records orders and judgment. Later collection or appeal activity appears too. What the public actually sees varies by case type and restriction.
| Header | Case number, court, filing date, case style or caption, judge, and status when publicly visible. |
|---|---|
| Opening entries | Complaint, petition, citation or process, return of service, waiver, answer, counterclaim, or related response. |
| Middle entries | Motions, notices of hearing, status conferences, mediation or referral flags, continuances, and signed orders. |
| Setting and result | Hearing, docket call, trial, agreed order, judgment, default, nonsuit, dismissal, or another disposition entry. |
| Later activity | Cost bill, abstract, writ or garnishment, satisfaction, appeal, reopening, or another post-judgment event. |
A short docket label is rarely the whole story. Ask to see the signed order whenever the outcome matters to you. That paper tells you things the docket line will not, such as whether a nonsuit was entered with or without prejudice, whether the court assessed costs, or whether some obligation still stands after the case closed.
Walthall Civil Dockets: Circuit and Chancery
Walthall runs on a two-clerk structure. That fact drives all civil routing. Circuit Clerk Dan Hawn keeps the Circuit Court docket for major civil actions. Appeals within Circuit jurisdiction stay there too. Chancery Clerk Shannon Fortinberry keeps the Chancery docket for domestic relations, land and equity matters, estates, guardianships, conservatorships, adoptions, and mental-commitment matters. The Fourth Chancery MEC login page is a court-specific filer area. It is not a public case-search screen. It does confirm that Chancery runs its own electronic environment with separate document-permission warnings.
A divorce, custody, probate, estate, boundary, or guardianship case should start on the Chancery path, not with a broad Circuit civil search. Keep the court name next to the number whenever you request a docket printout or certified copy.
What Cases Fill the Civil Docket
In Walthall, "civil" is an umbrella label. Contract, property, injury, and other major civil litigation travel the Circuit path. Family, probate, land-equity, adoption, guardianship, conservatorship, and mental-commitment work belongs to Chancery. Justice Court handles small claims up to $3,500. It also takes related lower-court civil matters. For municipal matters, confirm the court from the city notice or citation.
| Case group | Likely Walthall docket path | Lookup caution |
|---|---|---|
| Major civil action or appeal | Circuit Court and the Circuit Clerk. | Use PAMEC if the electronic case participates, then use the clerk for paper or certified material. |
| Family, estate, probate, land, or equity matter | Fourth Chancery and the Chancery Clerk. | Family and sensitive documents may be restricted even when a docket event is visible. |
| Small claim | Justice Court and Justice Court Clerk LaShanda Magee. | The official form packet explains filing mechanics but is not a live docket result. |
Walthall Civil Dockets and Justice Court Small Claims
Justice Court is not a watered-down copy of the Circuit civil docket. It is the documented route for Walthall small claims up to $3,500, with its own clerk, its own counter, and its own case process. No official statewide public search form exists for Walthall Justice Court dockets, so start with the case number or the details on your filing or notice. Do not assume the case will turn up in PAMEC.
The Justice Court counter sits at 808 Magnolia Avenue. The clerk's number is 601-876-2311. When you call, give the case type, year, and number, or the party names, and ask how public lookup, inspection, or copies work right now. If you want a plain or certified copy, ask about the fee first, along with any identification requirement and how the copy will reach you.
Small-claims boundary. The $3,500 figure marks Justice Court small-claim jurisdiction. It is not a current fee, a damages estimate, or a reason to route every civil matter there.
Hearings on the Civil Docket
A Walthall County civil docket can list many kinds of settings. Motion hearings and status conferences appear. So do docket call, bench or jury trials, settlement events, and later reviews. A filed motion, though, is only a request. Granting it is a separate act, so the docket entry alone proves nothing either way. Hunt for the later notice, hearing entry, signed order, or new setting. The newest case-specific notice should outweigh any general term calendar when the two disagree.
A hearing may be close at hand. Set the docket beside the notice actually served in the case. If neither shows a time or courtroom, phone the clerk. Circuit can be reached at 601-876-5677; Chancery at 601-876-3553. Ask whether a courtroom clerk or court coordinator manages the current setting. Walthall County posts no public scheduling portal or coordinator line.
Walthall Civil Docket Status Entries
The court information pages attach MEC flags to civil cases. You may see APPEAL or County Court Appeal. MOTREF and CASREF can appear. So can MEDIATION, ENE, ARBITRATION, EX PARTE, SEALED, COST_BILL, Pending_Fee, Partial_Pmt, CLOSED, or STAYED. A flag helps you find the right dated entry fast. Its meaning, though, comes from the entry or order itself, never from the label alone.
- Mediation, ENE, or ARBITRATION
- Alternative-dispute or referral indicators, not a final outcome.
- STAYED
- The proceedings are paused by an order or status; it does not show that the case is finished.
- CLOSED
- A system closure label. Read the judgment, dismissal, satisfaction, or other dated disposition to understand it.
No official Walthall County list spells out every short entry code. So never turn a shorthand label into a local rule. Confirm it on the live docket or with the clerk who maintains it.
Who Can See Civil Dockets
PAMEC subscribers can pull electronic docket sheets, notices, and documents in nonrestricted cases under the public terms. Section 7 of the MEC Administrative Procedures adds another route. It gives free public electronic access at the clerk's office during regular hours. Walthall County users therefore have two options. One is remote PAMEC. The other is an in-person fallback for Circuit and Chancery electronic cases.
Seeing the docket does not mean seeing every document. Debt collection, garnishment, family, child, guardianship, conservatorship, adoption, and mental-health categories can all carry restrictions. A seal may shut off the case or the file itself. A public header or docket event does not put a financial affidavit, adoption material, or protected family document in your hands.
Request the record held by the right clerk. Identify the court, case number, caption or party, year, document, and whether inspection, a plain copy, a certified copy, or a docket-only printout is wanted.
MEC Administrative Procedures, Section 7 governs the public electronic-access route.
Mississippi Code Section 25-61-5 supplies public-body timing language, but it does not override a court seal or confidentiality rule.
Walthall Civil Dockets Beyond Online Results
Electronic coverage has edges. Fourth Chancery's Walthall MEC information shows a go-live date of August 22, 2016. Fourteenth Circuit lists February 8, 2021. A no-result docket search, then, can mean several things. The matter may predate the electronic range. It may sit in the wrong court, carry a different number or spelling, or be restricted. It may simply not be entered yet.
For Circuit civil records, try PAMEC, the public terminal or counter, Dan Hawn's office, the phone, or a focused written request. For Chancery, use the Fourth Chancery PAMEC route, or Shannon Fortinberry's office by phone, counter, or written request. Tylertown Municipal Court offers no official public online civil lookup. Work from the notice or citation and call 601-876-5121. Ask each clerk the current actual-cost fee and response procedure rather than assuming a set schedule.
