Walthall County Court Docket Searches
Need an electronic Walthall County court docket from Circuit or Chancery Court? Start at Public Access to Mississippi Electronic Courts, known as PAMEC. This is the public, read-only doorway into files from participating Mississippi Electronic Courts. It is not a free anonymous search page. A public account is required. Non-attorney registration costs $10 per year. The terms also list a $0.20 charge for each page returned. That applies even to a one-page no-match result. Walthall County Justice Court and Tylertown Municipal Court follow different paths. The clerk posts no local public citation or docket search form for those courts.
Begin with the court named on your notice or citation. A case number is the best identifier. Failing that, use a party name and rough year. Case type and court also help the right clerk find the record. One Walthall County felony can carry a Justice Court preliminary entry. A later Circuit Court case may follow it. Family, probate, or land matters belong with the Chancery Clerk instead.
- Identify the court from the summons, notice, ticket, or existing case number.
- Register for PAMEC for a participating Circuit or Chancery electronic case, or contact the lower-court clerk.
- Use the case number where known, then compare the court, case style, and dates in the result.
- Read the newest setting, notice, or signed order before relying on an older entry.
- Ask the maintaining clerk for an official copy, fee, or in-office access when a result is missing or restricted.
The PAMEC registration choices screen displays the public account option used ahead of a Walthall County electronic docket search.

Signing up is separate from the account-gated case search. After logging in, confirm the live public field labels yourself.
Why Walthall Has Two Clerk Paths
Walthall County splits its court dockets between two clerks. Circuit Clerk Dan Hawn holds the Circuit Court docket. It covers felony criminal cases, major civil matters, and lower-court appeals that reach Circuit Court. Chancery Clerk Shannon Fortinberry keeps Chancery Court material. Her docket covers domestic relations, probate and estates, land and equity, guardianship, conservatorship, adoption, and mental-commitment cases. That split is the central routing fact for any docket search here. Ask the wrong clerk and a real court record can look like a no-result.
Justice Court keeps its own clerk, LaShanda Magee. Her office handles small claims, misdemeanors, preliminary felony proceedings, bonds and initial appearances, and traffic outside city limits. Tylertown Municipal Court stands apart too. The statewide directory names Judge Ryan Bruhl and a city contact. It publishes no complete municipal clerk designation and no online docket. Use the court named on a Tylertown ticket. Then confirm the current records process with that office directly.
Court Dockets: What They Show
A docket is a chronological register, not the whole case file. A public Walthall County court docket may list the court and case number. Filing date, case style, and parties may appear too. So may the judge, dated filings, settings, orders, status, and disposition information when public. Document images are a separate product. A docket can show an entered order. The image may stay restricted, sealed, charged through PAMEC, or available only at the clerk's office.
| Case number | The court-assigned identifier used to find the correct Walthall County court file. The accessible official pages do not publish a local format. |
|---|---|
| Case style and parties | The caption and participant roles shown in the public case view, subject to redaction and access limits. |
| Docket entries | Dated filings, process, hearings, orders, pleas, judgments, and later case activity. |
| Settings | Date, time, location, judge, and setting type if the case view provides them. |
| Status and disposition | Current status or outcome fields where public; a flag alone is not a final judgment. |
| Documents | Referenced pleadings and orders that may be available, restricted, sealed, or chargeable. |
Walthall County MEC Court Information
The local MEC information pages add context. They do not replace the case docket itself. The Fourteenth Circuit Court Information page lists Walthall County Circuit Court. It adds public hours and a February 8, 2021 MEC go-live date. It also posts flags. Look for APPEAL, BOUND OVER, Capias Pending, CLOSED, SEALED, STAYED, and Trial Pending. Treat those labels as routing clues, never case outcomes.
The Fourth Chancery Court Information page identifies Walthall County Chancery Court, the clerk contact, and an August 22, 2016 MEC go-live date. Chancery flags may involve guardianship plans. They may also involve accounting notices, minor wards, or a show-cause order. Read the dated entry. Read the court order before concluding anything from a label.
The official Circuit Court information page displays the court-specific MEC setting. That setting sits behind a Walthall County docket search.

Its contact and status details help separate a Circuit case from a Justice or municipal record.
Walthall County Courts and Their Dockets
One phrase, several records. A Walthall County court docket actually spans separate dockets for separate courts. Circuit Court takes felonies and major civil cases. It also hears authorized appeals coming up from the lower courts. Chancery Court handles domestic, probate, and equity work. Land cases and guardianship work go there too. Justice Court runs two districts for its lower-court civil and criminal matters. Tylertown Municipal Court keeps city traffic, ordinance, and municipal misdemeanor cases. Walthall lists no county court. So skip hunting for a Walthall County Court docket that does not exist.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to search or ask |
|---|---|---|
| Walthall County Circuit Court | Felony criminal, major civil, and authorized appeals | PAMEC for participating electronic cases; Circuit Clerk Dan Hawn |
| Walthall County Chancery Court | Family, probate, land, equity, guardianship, and related matters | PAMEC for participating electronic cases; Chancery Clerk Shannon Fortinberry |
| Walthall County Justice Court | Small claims, misdemeanors, preliminary felony work, and traffic outside municipalities | Justice Court Clerk LaShanda Magee at the local court counter |
| Tylertown Municipal Court | City traffic, ordinance, and municipal misdemeanor matters | The ticket and municipal court contact, because no official public portal was located |
Walthall County Justice Court Records
Justice Court is its own Walthall County docket path, not a Circuit Clerk sub-docket. The 2026 state directory places Clerk LaShanda Magee. Her office is 808 Magnolia Avenue in Tylertown, telephone 601-876-2311. That office handles small claims and misdemeanors. It also handles initial felony appearances, bonds, preliminary hearings, and traffic outside municipal limits. Call it rather than assuming PAMEC covers a lower-court citation.
After the preliminary stage, a felony can move from Justice Court to Circuit Court. The later system sometimes shows a BOUND OVER flag. That transfer creates two distinct records. A municipal ticket never becomes a Circuit docket. The parties or issuing agency sitting in Walthall County does not change that. Ask for the current case number. Ask which court holds the present record. Also ask about the copy or inspection procedure that applies.
Court Dates and Settings in Walthall County
Start with paper in hand. A summons, ticket, court notice, or signed order beats any general calendar when you need your Walthall County court date. The newest electronic docket entry can help too. For 2026, the Secretary of State's term materials show when Circuit and Chancery Court will sit, but a term week is not a personal hearing date. A case-specific notice or signed order always controls. Walthall County offers no official daily docket portal or standalone settings form.
What if the electronic entry and your notice disagree? Call the clerk who keeps the file before you drive anywhere. Circuit questions go to 601-876-5677, Chancery to 601-876-3553, Justice Court to 601-876-2311, and Tylertown Municipal Court to 601-876-5121. The Walthall County Court Schedule covers the term dates. It also explains how to confirm a setting.
Walthall County Term Calendars
The Mississippi judicial directory and court calendar is where the 2026 term schedules are published. Walthall Chancery lists ten term blocks. They are split between Judge E. Wayne Smith and Judge Debbra K. Halford. The Fourteenth Circuit runs one-week terms under Judges Michael M. Taylor and David H. Strong Jr. Certain weeks are set aside for the Grand Jury. Use these calendars to spot a court week, not a precise docket call time.
Grand Jury weeks deserve special care. That designation is not a public trial calendar. It does not mean a named case will be heard. Compare the current docket with the notice in the case, then confirm with the clerk. One more wrinkle: Walthall's Circuit and Chancery district assignments change effective January 1, 2027, so a 2026 label should not be carried forward without checking the new official material. The state judicial-directory landing page publishes the current term calendars. It is the official place to check them.

Term calendars give you the court week; the notice and current docket give you the setting.
Walthall County Docket Terms
Reading a Walthall County court docket gets easier once you know a few status flags. The public Circuit MEC information page lists those flags. It stops short of a full codebook. Treat a dated entry backed by a signed order as stronger evidence. That beats a bare label. These terms matter most when you need to tell whether a Walthall County case jumped between court levels, or whether access to part of the court record has been limited.
- BOUND OVER
- A preliminary Justice Court felony matter sent onward toward Circuit Court handling.
- SEALED
- An access restriction limits public viewing of some or all of a case or document.
- Capias Pending
- A capias-related status is present; it is not a final disposition.
- Trial Pending
- A trial-related event remains in the system; it does not show a verdict.
- APPEAL
- Appeal activity appears in the docket; the trial and appellate files remain separate records.
Docket Access Under Mississippi Law
Mississippi's Public Records Act sets the general policy for inspecting public records. Court access also follows judicial rules, seals, confidentiality statutes, and MEC procedures. PAMEC gives subscribers remote access. It covers eligible electronic civil and criminal cases. The same MEC procedures provide free electronic access at the clerk's office. That access runs during regular business hours. A docket entry does not unlock every document image. And a general request never overrides a seal or Youth Court confidentiality.
Key access rules:
Mississippi Code §25-61-5 provides public-body procedure and written-delay context, but does not promise release of a restricted court file.
Mississippi Code §25-61-7 uses an actual-cost fee principle, so local copy amounts should be confirmed with the clerk.
MEC Administrative Procedures §7 govern remote subscriber access and free clerk-office electronic access for eligible court records.
Mississippi Code §43-21-251 describes confidential Youth Court records, which are not an ordinary public name-search route.
The MEC administrative procedures spell out how court records are reached through PAMEC and clerk-office terminals. The rule backs free electronic access at the clerk's office. Restricted, sealed, and certified-record questions still rest with the clerk and the court.
Walthall County Electronic Docket History
Electronic access does not mean every older Walthall County court record was scanned. Chancery Court's official MEC page lists August 22, 2016 as its go-live date. Circuit Court's page says February 8, 2021. Those dates only mark when each court entered the MEC environment. Neither is a digitization cutoff. For an older case, start with a few details. Give the right clerk the approximate year and the court. Also give a caption or party name and the document type. Then ask whether the historical index sits in MEC, paper, microfilm, or another retained format.
Some local history adds color. Walthall County was formed in 1910. The state historic-property search lists the Old Walthall County Jail as a 1916 property near the courthouse area. None of that proves a requested court file is held there. Who answers historical record questions? The clerk who keeps the relevant Walthall County docket remains the reliable source.
How the Clerk Keeps Docket Records
Circuit Clerk Dan Hawn is the primary Walthall County contact for a Circuit Court docket. The official directory and Circuit MEC page place the courthouse at 200 Ball Avenue, Tylertown, MS 39667, telephone 601-876-5677, open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The clerk's office is also the fallback when a PAMEC result does not appear. Use it for public electronic inspection. Ask there too when you need a certified copy. When you request something, name the court, the case number or party, the approximate year, the document, and whether a plain or certified copy is needed.
For Chancery records, call Shannon Fortinberry at 601-876-3553. For Justice records, call LaShanda Magee at 601-876-2311. Walthall publishes no copy fee schedule, local request form, online order channel, or processing-time promise. So ask the maintaining clerk for the current amount, payment method, identification rules, delivery method, and retrieval time. Do that before sending a request.

The Census QuickFacts page offers general county context, not court-routing help. You still need the right court and clerk before requesting any docket or record.
Walthall County Federal Docket Route
Federal matters never appear on the Walthall County Circuit or Chancery dockets. Walthall sits in the Hattiesburg/Eastern Division of the U.S. District Court. That is part of the Southern District of Mississippi. For those cases, the official public route runs through PACER. Use either a specific-court search or the nationwide Case Locator. A state PAMEC account will not substitute for PACER on federal civil or criminal dockets. And no Walthall County clerk can hand you a federal court record.
Bankruptcy adds one more layer. The Southern District Bankruptcy Court reported 30 Walthall County bankruptcy filings in calendar year 2025. That is down from 33 in 2024. Those are federal filing counts only. They do not measure all local court activity or unique residents. They show one published slice of the court record picture.
Matters outside the Walthall County state-court docket system go elsewhere. For those, PACER is the federal search entry point.

Federal docket searches run through PACER. State lookups stick with PAMEC and the Walthall County clerk. For updated federal filing reports, the Southern District Bankruptcy statistics index is the official source.

Its reports give federal context only, never a Walthall County Circuit, Chancery, Justice, or municipal docket total.
City-by-City Court Dockets in Walthall County
Tylertown is the only incorporated municipality in Walthall County, with a 2020 Census population of 1,515. Its municipal court handles city traffic tickets, ordinance violations, and misdemeanors within its authority. The 2026 directory names Judge Ryan Bruhl. It also lists a city telephone contact. The city posts no docket portal, payment page, daily calendar, or fee schedule. A ticket and a direct call start the search.
Tylertown Court Records
2020 Census population: 1,515. Municipal traffic, ordinance, and misdemeanor records follow a separate city-court route.
The Fourth Chancery Court Information page shows the separate electronic route for Walthall County Chancery cases.

Tylertown municipal records stay out of Chancery electronic dockets unless another court takes up a related proceeding.
Map and Directions to the Walthall County Courthouse
Circuit and Chancery Court files are both kept at the Walthall County Courthouse, 200 Ball Avenue in Tylertown, though Circuit Clerk Dan Hawn and Chancery Clerk Shannon Fortinberry are separate offices at that address. Justice Court is not in the courthouse; its clerk's counter is at 808 Magnolia Avenue. A citation written inside Tylertown goes to the municipal court instead of either county office.
